HI THERE, I AM
AFRIH ANVER

ABOUT
Chemical Engineer with over 7 years of corporate experience working in local and international industries across three continents. I am also the founder of Shola Gems, STB Marketing and the community-building initiative, Visit Atulugama and The Fitness Hub – Bandaragama.
MY BACKGROUND
I am the eldest son in a middle income family with 3 siblings, growing up with early exposure to the gemstone trade through my father’s decades of experience. I graduated in Chemical Engineering from the University of Moratuwa and worked for over seven years in Sri Lanka, the Maldives, UAE, and Australia.
While studying, I started freelancing in engineering drafting for overseas clients, which developed my entrepreneurial skills. Later, I joined the family gemstone business to combine our heritage with new ideas. Beyond business, I focus on making a positive difference through digital marketing, trading ventures, and community projects.
One project, Visit Atulugama, was created to showcase my village’s history and culture to a global audience. I am also a founding member of The Fitness Hub – Bandaragama. Established in 2022, the team focuses on a daily morning exercise routine to improve fitness and healthy lifestyle.

VALUES
From the very beginning, I have always been curious about how industries evolve and where value can be created. This curiosity led me to explore opportunities that not only strengthen existing markets but also redefine client experiences. I believe in staying ahead of the curve—embracing new technologies like AI, IoT, and data analytics to bring smarter, more impactful solutions to the entrepreneurial journey and beyond.
My journey started as a chemical engineer, working across petroleum and manufacturing sectors, where I learned how science drives innovation. Over time, this knowledge became a bridge to my passion—gemstones. Today, I apply my engineering expertise to enhance gemstone treatment and gemmological processes, combining science.
Success, to me, has never been just about personal growth. It’s also about the people and communities that shape our path. From a young age, I’ve been part of initiatives that uplift both local and industrial communities. These experiences remind me that progress is most meaningful when it is shared.
